Inequality chains

Use runs of signs to limit numbers at both ends.

In a 5×5 grid, if a < b < c, then a can only be 1, 2 or 3 and c can only be 3, 4 or 5.

A cell with two "smaller than" signs pointing to it must be bigger than both neighbors.

Once a chain end is fixed, work along the chain.

Practise it

The Hint button on every puzzle explains the next step in the same plain language, so you can learn as you play. Play a Futoshiki puzzle.
